🚨 Emergencies

At The Tooth Cottage Children’s Dentistry, we are a low-volume, appointment-based practice focused on comprehensive, relationship-based care.

We are not structured to provide emergency or limited exam visits. Our appointments are reserved for comprehensive care, allowing us to take a thoughtful and thorough approach to your child’s oral health.

If your child is experiencing dental pain, swelling, or an urgent concern, we recommend seeking care through a local urgent care, pediatric dentist, or emergency provider.

For our families of record, you may call the office or text us and we will help triage your concern and guide next steps, including scheduling as appropriate.

For guidance on common dental emergencies, please refer to the scenarios below for helpful information and expectations while awaiting care.

For families seeking a more consistent, preventive, and growth-guided approach, we would love to welcome you to our practice as availability allows. Call us at 904-429-3387 today to schedule an appointment with our pediatric dentist, Dr. Marisol Bolivar, and for more information about emergency dental care in Saint Augustine, Florida.

Toothaches

A toothache can be caused by various factors. Rinse the mouth with warm water to clean it and use floss to remove any trapped debris. Do not place aspirin on the gum, as it can cause burns. Contact us for a thorough evaluation.

Facial Swelling

Facial swelling may indicate an infection. Apply a cold compress and contact us immediately. Antibiotics might be necessary.

Broken Teeth

Rinse the mouth gently with warm water and save any broken pieces. Apply a cold compress to reduce swelling.

Cut Lips, Tongues or Cheeks

Clean the wound gently with water and use a cold compress to reduce swelling. If the bleeding persists or the cut is deep, seek immediate medical attention.

Knocked-Out Permanent Teeth

Hold the tooth by the crown (not the root), rinse it gently with water and try to reinsert it into the socket if possible. If not, place it in milk or a tooth preservation kit and rush to The Tooth Cottage Children’s Dentistry within 30 minutes for the best chance of reattachment.

Knocked-Out Baby Teeth

Do not attempt to reinsert baby teeth. Contact us for guidance.

Loose Space Maintainers

If a space maintainer becomes loose, schedule a visit with us so that we can readjust it. Do not try to adjust it yourself.

Remember, in any pediatric dental emergency in Saint Augustine, Florida, remaining calm and seeking professional help promptly is crucial. Reach out to us as soon as possible, and we will do everything in our power to help your child reach their healthiest smile again.
